Old farm house – East Hampton Village

Built in the early 1820s as a tidal grist mill, the Old Mill in Mattituck became a central part of the town’s commerce, powered by the natural tides of Mattituck Creek. Over the centuries, the building transformed from a working mill into a tavern, a Prohibition-era speakeasy rumored to host celebrities like Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, and finally into a beloved local restaurant and bar.

After closing in 2017, the historic structure underwent an extensive, multi-year renovation and officially reopened in 2025 as The Old Mill Inn Restaurant and Oyster Bar. Palencia’s Painting played a central role in the interior restoration, completing sheetrock installation, spackling, full interior painting, and custom staining throughout the building. Every step required precision and care to preserve the mill’s historic character while meeting modern standards of finish and durability.

By blending traditional craftsmanship with high-quality materials, our team helped bring the Old Mill’s interiors back to life — honoring its heritage while giving it a refreshed, timeless look that complements its rich history on the East End of Long Island.
